Chamberlain's Colic
In 1872 Lowell Chamberlain moved to Iowa and partnered with a Doctor that had been practicing in Marion Iowa since 1863. They created and sold patented medicines together under the name Owen & Chamberlain until 1882 when Davis Chamberlain (Lowell's brother) bought out Dr. Owens share. They moved the business to Des Moines and established what would become the largest patent medicine company business.
In 1910 Davis bought the business from Lowell and built the Chamberlain Hotel in Des Moines. He retained the business unti 1925 when he sold the Chamberlain Medicine company, keeping only the rights tot he Chamberlain Golden Touch Lotion.
